Dear Friends and Followers,
At this time of year we are not yet looking towards the next bloom of life. Surrounded by the recent death and decay of the past season, we are content to read, find new sources of inspiration and slowly make improvements to our home. We also spend time reflecting on our successes and failures. Here is a fun poem that I came across while doing just that...
Countdown
Ten flaming rose hips
Nine crickets chirping
Eight golden rods
Seven scarlet leaves
Six wild geese honking
Four frosty asters
Three empty nests
Two coyotes howling
One million snowflakes

Although we are past hearing crickets and still waiting for snow, the poem suited a tryptophan haze I was experiencing weeks ago :).
Despite our much milder work load, there has been a lot happening at the farm!! Thanks to the capable hands of CPC Construction projects (the year round residents at Ranchito Alegre), we are rapidly changing whats possible at the farm. There will now be additional gardens and additional growing structures to increase the volume of food available to Achuleta Co. residents. Furthermore, we now have a much improved processing area. We are so grateful for the synergy that is possible at the ranch. Check out the photos below.
Lastly, and certainly not least, we are pleased to have so many Farm Members who have already secured their membership from last year!! Because of the growth of the gardens, we are able to add 10 memberships to our CSA program. If you are interested in membership, please feel free to email us with inquiries. New members can purchase their share on January 1st! (click here to see your options). If you held a membership last year, and still have not put your deposit down, you must do so by December 15th.
